Ultrabook, between idea and substance
The Ultrabook , which came at first with a certain timidity in the homes of consumers (prices do not just complicit contents of the first models), can be regarded as a turning point in the world of laptops, albeit with different timing and means by optimistic forecasts Intel, a company leading the project.
The current second generation Ultrabook, based on third-generation Core platforms, have brought the performance to higher levels, offering itself to the public at prices more attractive than what we saw at the end of last year. The adoption of hybrid solutions in terms of storage (not just SSD, SSD + HDD but also in small denominations), as well as components not necessarily as refined aluminum for the chassis, making it possible to have more affordable prices, with an immediate increase in sales.
The initial approach, in fact, has bet maybe a bit ‘too much on top models. The desire to impress, making laptops with SSD very thin and sleek design, has certainly made the right audiences, but it is certainly not over in bulk to buy a Ultrabook. Intel’s intentions are clear: to put new parameters in the concept of a mainstream laptop, but to make inroads in this market there is no alternative to keep prices low and not in the order of 800-1000 USD for the first generation.
With that money you could buy two low-end notebook. Of course, these models are far from discounters Ultrabook performance, design of years old, but the mainstream will not be won with some figures so high. The first generation can be considered as proof of style and a “survey”, in order to evaluate the response on the first of the public. Best, in the comments and appreciation, but at home people brought more. The numbers have been made, certainly, but far from those predictions.
The seed was planted Ultrabook, however, and the fruits have begun to arrive with the second generation, pending maturity consists of the third.
